Friends of Birchwood Forest Park - Your initiative to start weekends of coffee, tea and cake services is all inspiring and a fantastic benefit to all those walkers, cyclists, sportsmen and women and even dogs are not forgotten. Hopefully this may continue next spring and summer, which would make this park even more attractive than it already is and may the Council stimulate this initiative in an already perfect recreation area for both the old and young. Birchwood should feel proud having such a wonderful park and the greater majority of those visiting do care about it - there's always the odd one that does not and probably does not pay...

Really lovely park for lots of different uses. I mostly use it to run around the loop, some slightly challenging hilly bits. I have also just come to have a little walk and a picnic on the grass. Lots of space for families and kids to play and a nice little play area. The cafe is a lovely little community cafe. It’s nothing fancy, the do things like tea and instant coffee, so don’t expect a flat white or a latte, but expect some lovely friendly people to have a chat with. Oh and a lovely bit of toast or a tea cake! It’s also easy to access the park from a few different entrances on foot and a handy car park...

Nice big open field, play area for kids and a lot of walkers, runners and dog owners go here. Place is clean so the dog owners are clearing up after themselves. If you go in the summer when the weather's nice it's normally got lots of people there. In the winter/when we have snow it turns in to a field of snowmen 😂 There is also a little skate park and off road bike track too if you look for it - little half pipe and bowls. Not huge so ideal for beginners. Pictures of the skate park attached :) There's an putside gym area too so if you can't get to an actual gym you can...

If you want to do a timed run the path around the "main" field is 1.1km long. This park is used for all sorts, there are fitness classes, cross country training runs, the carnival comes once a year. The south side of the park has a skate park with a half pipe, quarter pipe and some rails as well as a short bmx race course.
