Read moreVisited for the first time yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was ample parking on arrival, including several disabled spots right next to the door. At the reception, we were given a leaflet (free) with a map, and information about the history and layout of Creswell Crags. The staff couldn't have been more helpful with information about disabled facilities, eating areas, and activities available. There was a shop where you could buy soft toys, magnets, fossils and much more. The museum was well thought out and full of interesting facts and information. There were plenty of toilets, all of good standard and clean. The only problem I could foresee is that the toilets were fixed to the wall, which could be difficult for larger visitors. There was a cafe, which was very reasonably priced, with a good selection of sweet & savoury, meat & veggie, suitable for all ages. The staff were very pleasant. Again, the seats provided were not sturdy enough for larger visitors. The grounds were superb. There was a playground, wildflower meadow and the gorge itself was spectacular. Everything was easy access for all mobilities, and the walk around the lake was on an easy path and was just over a mile long. Everything on show had the environment in mind. There were a variety of activities (not all free) on offer, from guided cave tours, to mini-beast adventures. All in all, I was very impressed with Creswell Crags and I will certainly...
Read moreLovely place and beautiful to walk around and all the natural parts (that haven't been gated off) are amazing. However, the paid 'tours' are disappointing and the advertising is misleading, you only go into the first section of most caves and the information is tailored for children. Cafe is fine but don't bother with the bird food since the 'bird feeding area' (a large, full bird feeder on a random tree along the path) is also quite misleading! We booked onto 2 tours and after seeing the whole vicinity of the 2nd tour while on our first (misled regarding the size of the caves by the website) we could see there wasn't much more to it and tried to cancel or swap the second tour tickets. Lady on reception definitely could have been friendlier, wouldn't swap the tickets for another tour (claimed all booked but we could clearly see availability online) and advised we'd need to speak to the bookings manager on Monday for a refund which was absolutely fine - if it was true, however come Monday we've been advised refunds aren't possible (reception should have told us as we would have gone on the tour for the sake of not losing the money) and ignored after that. Highly recommend visiting the area for the natural aspects, anything you're being charged for is likely...
