We asked at reception about dinner reservations and room service menu. Were told there were old resteraunt reservations after 8pm but they didn't have room service menus but to ask in the bar as it was the same. We had a few drinks in the bar and decided after looking at the resteraunt menu which you can't view in advance that there was nothing we really wanted so figured we would orde room service later on as bar food finished at five. In the bar we enquired about room serviced and were Told that orders from the bar could be put through but wouldnt get delivered until after the porters came in at around 11pm as they look after the late night hot food. This was at 8:30pm and we were getting hungry but there were no food. Available until 2:30 hours, not good enough for a 4 star hotel. We looked online on the hotel website and saw that there was an online order food form which would only allow us to put an order in up to 11pm not after and therefore we ordered asap. Even though the menu and the bar staff stated food for room service was not available after 11pm. We were called back straight away to say no hot food available and that we needed to look at the cold menu and dial back to order food. This made no sense so I went down to the bar to clarify. I went down and met Simon at the bar and was told that it was not possible to order hot food on an evening and that the info we had been told was wrong, even though website says these are available after 11pm till 6am. Collected cold sandwiches no refund on price difference and no refund on delivery as I had collect. I was then asked while I was waited did I want a drink while I waited. I thought this must be free to soften the blow. Nope bill for two tiny cokes..... Dreadful service. Got back to our room to find that the sandwiches were with butter even though I had requested no butter..... This resulted in having to return again to the kitchen which was clearly shut to find someone to change. Hats off the the chef for changing. Absolute madness.

27 quid for tinned ham on white bread....

There were announced the Trik or Treat market event tonight. We have tried three different entries but non of them was open. And just before the opening times we found out that the event was cancelled. Cancelled? How it can even be possible?? The evening was completely ruined. I had to drive 3,5 hours instead of walking and having fun! Do you even pay any attention to others people time?? All the people in a neighbourhood told us we couldn't get in there. Highly not recommend anyone to visit this place as it's just waist...

Beautiful place, the castle is situated on Lambton Park which is the historic seat of the earls of Durham.

Lambton Park has remained relatively private over the years, but now approximately 13.4 kilometres of permissive footpaths have been opened up south of the River Wear, allowing residents and the public to enjoy the nature, landscape and heritage of the Park.. it’s absolutely beautiful and I highly...

Came here for the Little Lindi festival which was set across the grounds of the castle. The castle provided a great backdrop to the music arena. The grounds were lovely with lots of paths to walk along. Nice walk along the river to the rear of the castle. Didn’t park in the car park as it was being used by the organisers of the festival for parking trucks.
