Great recreation ground. Several large open green spaces for walking / activities. Dog friendly with benches & bins available. Woodland on one side with a few short trails - ideal for dog walking. There is a recently refurbished pavilion which sells basic refreshments (hot & cold drinks, crisps, sweets & ice creams). Only taking cash when we visited but card machines due. Clean public toilets available within the pavilion. Indoor & outdoor seating available as well as children's play area & small splash park. Dogs are not allowed in pavilion, play area or splash park. There is also a fitness trail around the recreation ground. Ample free parking with some disabled parking also available but there is a height restriction of 2.3m. Overlooking gorgeous parkland, a splashpool with undulating areas suitable for little ones to paddle or sit in safety, new play equipment, tennis courts, football pitches and a cricket pitch, and not forgetting the ever popular weekend park runs. The first 500m can get very congested, as (to a lesser extent) can the first lap in the woods at 1-1.5km but after that it opens out. Quite a challenging course - mix of tarmac, path and forest trail; twists around a bit and (by local standards!) it goes up and down quite a lot too. Free parking nearby - either at the park or the Golden Retriever across the road. Runners are asked NOT to park on the Crematorium side...
