Lovely area! Around 2 miles out of Howarth itself. Limited parking at junction with main road (reportedly breakins in the past, so just beware). Recommend parking in Howarth, or one of the parking areas along the road up from Howarth.
Couple of mile walk from the main road, across a pretty good, gravelled path. Open country side - but they have sheep in season, so please bear that in mind if you bring dogs.
The last quarter of the path (as you approach the falls) can be wet / boggy with streams that have burst theyre banks.
The area at the end is a nice "dell", with the stream coming through, grassy areas either side, and an old stone bridge - great for picnics!
If you do go for a paddle in the stream, just beware the rocks are slippy as heck with algae!
I dont believe the area with the stone bridge is actually "The Falls" - there's a more vigorous waterfall up to the right just as you leave the dell area, back the way you came.
Nice area for a...
Read moreSun was out and it was warm for a couple of days, so took advantage 😊 We parked up on Enfield Side Road, there's parking there for 4 or 5 cars, so get there early 😉 You can park in Haworth and walk, that will take an hour, from Enfield Side Road, its only 25 minutes. The walk itself is beautiful, the views are unspoilt and you see valleys, hills and lots of countryside. Towards the waterfall, it gets a bit muddy, so you might want walking boots and not trainers and sandals lol. The area around the waterfall is perfect for a picnic or a few beers, just take your rubbish home 😉 The waterfalls are not huge, but they are beautiful. Will come again, its only 30 mins from Bradford centre, but it feels like it's a world away. If you do visit the waterfall, then try and visit Haworth village too, maybe beforehand, it is picturesque and worth visiting the museum, church and the shops, its also home to the...
Read moreGreat walk with some optional moderately difficult climbs and beautiful views of the falls and countryside along the way.
The usual walk to the bridge at the bottom of the falls is always enjoyable for families or others alike. However if you feel more adventurous you can climb the steep and slightly technical slope along the waterfall's path to see the waterfall itself. The terrain can be quite boggy, narrow or steep so you'll need grippy waterproof shoes. However the views are great and the exercise good too.
There is an alternate easier route you can take by going on one of the narrow paths along the heather fields to the left just shortly before reaching the bridge. Though you won't experience all of it without taking some of the steep paths close to the water.
Look out for and be mindful of residing grouse in the...
