Lovely area to walk in, and the views are stunning. Got to say, though, that the wooden bridges and wooden walkways are not great. They are wobbly, slats missing on some, and sinking into the bogs. If you reckon you'd struggle with these, then I wouldn't incorporate Ponden Kirk area on your walk. There's also some steep stone steps that have seen better days and may be a struggle for some people. However, if you don't mind dodgy walkways and scrambly steps, then head up Ponden Clough right to the top. It leads you past a load of grouse shooting huts and right over to...

This place has a mysterious kind of magic. The view of the colorful hills and valleys is just breathtaking. I spent about four hours here—one of which I spent lying on a cliff, just taking in the scenery. It was so peaceful that I dozed off without even realizing it. During that whole time, not a single person passed by. I had the entire view to myself, soaking in the unbelievable luxury of solitude. Moved by the stunning landscape, I found myself bowing in respect. With love...

Transcendental. Very, very moody and brooding. Totally different aura to the light and playful waterfall and to the quiet and slightly mournful solitude of Top Withens. Ponden Kirk was all Cathy and Heathcliff.

Really sad to not have ventured down into the cave. It was too muddy and a bit of a risk. Cathy was definitely sniggering at me...

The view was sublime. I would sit on that cliff for hours and hours.

You can't miss this as...

Don't do what I did and scramble up the sheer brambly cliff face. There's a path to the top that you can find if you take the steep stairs back up the brook towards the moor. The path is on your right from that direction and is much, much easier and takes your right to the fairy cave. Make sure you're polite and courteous to the fairies though, maybe bring some milk or honey as an offering, because the views you'll get in return are stunning.
