Ultimately a covered up old concrete sewage works. Mother nature has done a good job of camouflaging it. If you are local then it's good for a dog walk, but I wouldn't make it a destination. The 'perimeter' walk is nice on a sunny day and possibly the most popular as it is well trodden to a good width. Inevitable dog 💩 to catch you out when taking in the pretty river view surroundings - arching away from the A12 along the river Brain then Blackwater, then back to the A12 before heading up and over the old landfill for some lovely Essex countryside views. There are 4 car parking spaces at its entrance and several park benches dotted all over.

Delightful small nature reserve managed by Witham Town Council and local voluntary groups. Home to a host of bird life and mammals; nestled in a meander of the River Blackwater. Accessed from Maldon Road, or just continue across Maldon Road from the River Walk, follow the river along a beautifully wooded path, under the A12 and into a beautiful oasis of calm. Different habitats are managed to maximum benefit for wildlife but it also makes a wonderful walk or place to sit on one of the benches dotted about. Dogs welcome but please clear up - dog bins are available.

Unexpectedly pleasant and green open space. Wildlife in abundance and a clear pathway for a riverside walk. Much of the site is covered with shrubs and nettles, so only the footpaths and the area immediately south of the A12 are accessible. Only downsides are the narrow access (7') to the parking, the constant roar of the A12 and the occasional bad smell from the water treatment works. Don't let that put you off, though.
