This is a great country park! There are several different walking routes of varied length and with varied terrain. The routes are labelled. I used my power chair and we took the yellow route which was generally smooth sailing, but for some gravelly areas/steeper inclines. There are so many benches along the way and gorgeous viewing points, wooded areas, dragonfly ponds and open fields. We were very surprised to find a selection of vegan food in the cafe-pizza, toasties and sausage rolls. There were many vegetarian/carnivorous options and lots of dairy ice cream and doggie ice cream too. Plenty of seating outside the cafe. Staff offered icey water bowls for dogs. We didn't use the toilets but from what I could see, facilities appeared clean. I can't speak on accessibility here. I believe there were 5 blue badge bays, which are free of charge, and the rest of the car park is pay and display. We passed a small, accessible sensory garden, and a playground for little ones. We didn't go down to the water so can't comment on this but there were plenty of people picnicking, playing and gathering there. We did spot some notices saying that there was an all terrain mobility scooter which...

This review includes the good and the bad. The place itself deserves 5 stars. It's great for walking as there are some very interesting trails that vary in length and are well maintained. Access to these trails is easy for the disabled as are the toilets and Café. It's a great place for cycling, whether for fitness or just for some fresh air. The main trail around the reservoir is just under 7 miles with hard packed gravel. Basically suitable for any bicycles that can use treaded tyres. The down sides. The carpark machines are not easy to use, because it is difficult to see the screen on the machine, also it's fairly expensive eg: 3hrs £4. The only negative thing about the Café is that you can waste a long time waiting for your order, you may need to add an hour to your ticket. Up until recently, there was a really good cycle hire and bike shop, there isn't now. (Aug 2023) Be sure you have your own spare inner tube and tools with you. It is a great loss to the location and doesn't have the same energy because of that. It is very much still worth a visit as the place itself is worth your while. I hope that the easy fixes get addressed and a bike...

Firstly, ill start with the positive of it being a beautiful walk, however, this did not outweigh the negatives of what could be an extremely beautiful place to go. The cafe was extremely disorganised and people were waiting ages for orders and they were serving people who had ordered before them. Secondly, it wasn't nice there being so many non British camped everywhere with bbqs and massive speakers blaring music. It wasn't a nice feeling of being a minority in the British countryside. There should be park wardens or security to prevent large gatherings of people. There were also zero bins around to throw away any rubbish and we had to walk the entire lake walk holding onto our bottles and cans. This is crazy considering its a nature reserve where it's important to keep littering etc under control. There were also no dog poo bins so looking at previous reviews, no wonder there's dog poo everywhere. Really disappointed with the experience and would like to know what you will be doing to make changes...

Easy to find, plenty of parking spaces, charges are reasonable and its open for long hours. Angling site available. Bikes available to hire. Bbq and picnic areas. Pathways suitable for buggys/wheelchairs/scooters/walking etc. Very clean and tidy, so please take your rubbish home! Lovely little cafe available on site. The park is a little run down in places, but they are currently working on some improvements! There are 2 play parks, one suitable for smaller children and the other for older. Lovely weir available to see. We decided to follow the red route today which takes you on the gnome trail (approx 1.5miles round trip). Sometimes areas flood or have huge puddles.... So bring wellies and go jumping!
