I attended a party with my 4 year old son and whilst he was playing I realised that I was suffering a hypo. I suffer with type 1 diabetes and a hypo is an episode of low blood sugar requiring immediate treatment. I carry small bags of high sugar jelly sweets at all times in case of these instances. I treated the hypo myself whilst remaining calm but was approached by an extremely rude, extremely insensitive member of staff who quickly told me I wasn’t to eat those in there because I didn’t buy them from there and some children are allergic to nuts. I informed her I was treating a medical condition and insured her there were no nuts in the sweets. She then went on to insist I must not sit in that seat and would need to GO OUTSIDE whilst suffering a serious medical condition. Not only was I discriminated against for a disability, I was also humiliated and made to leave. Making my 4 year old son leave his party early! At the very least I would’ve expected a sympathetic approach. She didn’t ask if I was ok, would I like anything from the cafe, a glass of water or something sugary perhaps? No she insisted I go outside and put myself in danger because ultimately I wasn’t welcome there whilst treating my medical condition, because I hadn’t brought the sweets from there? Unbelievably rude and insensitive. Thankful it wasn’t a child she had treated that was and left me having explain to my son why we had to leave his friends...
Read moreWe went to this soft play for the first time today with our 8 months old baby.
It was extremely busy, and the host was kind to let us inspect the baby and toddler area before deciding to enter or to come back another day when it's calmer. The baby and toddler area was separated from the other kids' areas and nearly empty with only 2 toddlers in there. So, we decided to give it a try.
Unfortunately, older kids kept frequently swarming into the area with neither parents nor host taking them out of there. We politely tried to stop a few kids from using the slide whilst our baby was crawling nearby. One older girl jumped over our child and nearly trod on him. We decided that it's not safe and left after about 15-20 minutes of being there.
The host seemed kind. However, the number of visitors should be either limited to keep different areas in reasonable control or parents with babies should be discouraged from entering the soft play if they can not upkeep their own rules in the baby area. Maybe a design change of the baby and toddler area is required with a lockable gate controlled by a member of staff only letting the appropriate age group into the area.
Edit: Reading through other reviews, there seems to be a consistent issue with the baby and toddler area for some time now, and no safe solution provided....
Read moreHey fellow mums of anxious or clingy children. I have 2 boys 3 and 1 years old and I took my 3 year old (during half term) who is very anxious...he doesn't like to go on on his own and always needs an adult by his side. To my absolute surprise he, for the first time EVER was able to go off on his own and enjoy the soft play and even make some friends. I went on with him a few times and because it is literally the perfect siE and not too overwhelming in terms of equipment etc he was enjoying the equipment on his own for the longest he's ever been without an adult. He was running between the garden and softplay both spaces are absolutely perfect, enjoyed a lovely icecream (they had a good selection of food and goodies too) I'm thinking this would be the most prefect venue for a children's party. I cannot wait to go back with my 1 year old too as there was a great space for his age aswell and I just know he'll love it as much as my big one - this will be our new escape I HIGHLY recommend for parents of children that get overwhelmed easily this is a great size for younger children. Thanks for having us Fun Junction we can't wait to...
