Towneley Hall is a stunning historic house set in 400 acres of beautiful parkland. It has a museum with fascinating displays of natural history, Egyptology, local history and art. You can explore the period rooms, the secret passages, the haunted mummy and the Towneley Bear. The hall also hosts events and exhibitions throughout the year. A great place to visit for all ages.

If you love plants and gardening, you will love Towneley Hall Garden Centre. It has a wide range of quality plants, from annuals to perennials, from houseplants to trees. You can also find everything you need for your garden, such as tools, pots, compost, and ornaments. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. You can also enjoy a delicious meal or a snack at the Gardener’s Retreat Restaurant, which has a lovely outdoor seating area. The garden centre is located in the beautiful Towneley Park, where you can visit the historic Towneley Hall and Museum. It is a great place to spend a day with your...

Towneley Hall is a great place to visit, but at the moment the hall is being renovated so not all of it is open to the public. The surrounding gardens and the woodland areas are free to wander round. There is a choice of parking places. The nearer to the hall itself is more expensive, but you can park I bit further away for about £1.50 all day. At the bottom of the long drive up to the hall, there is a children's playground, which is very good, for children up to the age of maybe 10years. In the woods, there are plenty of squirrels about, if you take nuts they are quite brave. There are some wood carvings dotted about as well, carved from tree stumps and fallen branches. Look out for the fairies sitting up in the trees. There are refreshments available, it was a mobile unit last time we were there, the cafe might be under...

Visited with the family and there seemed to be a promotional offer for free entry.

The building is very well preserved and is somewhat of a rabbit warren with its many rooms and corridors. The exhibits in each room are varied and interesting. If you have been to Cliffe Castle then I would say this place is comparable in regards to interesting installations. There is a great taxidermy collection and even an Ancient Egypt exhibit amongst other things.Info signs are present for each item In the collections.

Beyond the exhibits and more impressive in my opinion are the various features of the building itself. The various rooms are a real time warp and the long hall in particular is incredible. There is a priests hide to view also.

Lovely gardens surrounding and the park is great. 5* and will be...

I've lived here all my life and there's one place that I adore is Towneley Hall. (My grandad joked with us when I was a kid as he said he'd shot the bear situated inside the Hall) It's magnificent surroundings and woods give pleasure to the local people of Burnley. Football pitches are full on Sundays and the people go along to give their support. There's also a nature trail which is very educational for the kids and bowling or golf of course for ANY generation..... The Hall is FREE to locals but it's well worth donating or paying to go inside IT'S BEAUTIFUL decorated ceilings and walls are gorgeous, the paintings are out of this world. JUST VISIT (You won't be disappointed I can assure you!!!) Pendle Hill is visible from here too..... In fact make a date to see BEAUTIFUL-BURNLEY!!

Been going for walks up to towneley hall and the surrounding trails behind since I was young. Last went up about 6 weeks ago. I still love going up there. I would say the actual hall itself inside has gone down hill a lot to what was inside to look at and also the cafe outside needs to be resonable in price because it is very expensive, (its been shut for a long time) now is that to do with rent etc i dont know but if they had good prices they would have lots of people going inside. Overall lovely place to visit and walk. ( if you like squirrels) Lol.

Great place to spend a day! Lovely park, gardens!! Small restaurant and coffee shop! Perfect for families! Updated 2022: Coffee shop gone, you can buy a coffee from a little shed, sometimes ice-cream from a van. Now is getting rusty sometimes squirrel another time rat running on front of the fountain another time seagull eating a rat. When they organising a festival or even on one of the grass field whole park is closed for locals. Is nice place to go but get your own sandwiches and watch for rats.
