A beautiful and truly remarkable piece of our history. Nearly 2000 years later still standing, partially taken down to build the nearby priory, 700 years later. It's an amazing feeling to touch a stone, that has been carried here by a Roman soldier in cca. AD 125. Definitely worth visiting! 😍

This is a wonderful piece of Jadrians wall. Makes a good bed to sleep on. 😴 the true master piece is about a mile to the east and are called the banks turrets. There is also a lime kiln there 😋. Now when you go you HAVE to post a selfie or the ghost of Hadrian will do things to you 😉.

Very busy and popular with tourists so we didn’t stay long. I didn’t take many photos as it was hard to get a clear shot. You have to pay to park in addition to paying for a ticket to enter so it feels like a bit of a tourist trap. Worth a look though.

This is the first chunk of wall on the west-to-east route, and was built up (by victorians, probably) to resemble the height of the whole wall. It's a tiny section, but as you keep going you'll encounter mile castles and turrets, and this one chunk on Hare Hill helps one visualize what the rest would have...
