There are number of things to see and do such as the 19th Century Regency Mansion itself, Rural Life Museum, Walled Garden, Wellbeing Garden and Deer Park. The Mansion is a great place to have a look inside and there are number of beautiful paintings and antiques to see in each of the rooms and there are number of touch screen interactive displays to see and use where you learn more about the antiques where there is some interesting information to glean. Read moreWhat can I say ..what a wonderful place to visit for the day ..not expensive to get in and includes everything in the price apart from food and go Ape ..which is fine as not everyone wants to swing in the trees 😊 The entry to the hall is again included in the price and we found it fascinating and well furnished to the period ..When we opened the door into the walled garden it took my breath away ..I've visited many a garden but this is the best by miles ..full of beautiful flowers of every type and colour ,very old fruit trees, newly planted vegetables for the season all labelled not just telling you what they were but also the specific names and boy as a veg grower they were so healthy ..big rose arches full of the most prolific and highly scented roses of all colours and sizes.original Victorian greenhouses are still there and again are restored and well looked after.iasked a few questions for advise from a couple of the gardeners and found them extremely polite and helpful and happy to have a chat and was informed that there is only six of them looking after the whole garden ..well to all six of you you should be proud of the garden and all the hard work you put in is easy to see ...I cannot rate it high enough and we will be back to see how it is growing in...
Read moreBeen visiting this place for a long time, and have seen many changes, the children's water park is a great addition for the youngsters. But I have to say I am very disappointed at the decline in what was once one of the best walled gardens in the country, we enjoyed seeing the paths full of fruit and Berry arches, and the fruit trees along the walls. We had brought friends with us who were keen to see the garden we had been raving about for years but what we saw was a very poor shadow of its former self. The cold frames were full of weeds and looked like they had not been used in a long time. Looking around the grounds there was also sadly signs of decline, the ponds were dirty and not a pretty sight. On the plus side the staff were all very friendly, and the cafe is still excellent value for money. Over all the hall and grounds are still good value and we still had a pleasant day out, but hope our future visits do not find further...
