There was no entry charge . Plenty of free parking at the visitor car park. We didnt see any bins in the toilets or car park but there was a rubbish skip . Immaculate village & car park. No litter at all ( Why cant English villages & towns be this tidy ? ). The toilets were open on our visit - very clean . There is a covered seated area for inclement weather . Lots of clean , readable information boards with QR code facility , detailing the Roman period locally , plus details about the local Silures Tribe whose capital was here . Text in Welsh & English on the boards . We took an O.S. 1/25000 map to keep ourselves orientated but the info boards display the concession paths around the site. Locals were very Friendly , several people greeted us. Amazing state of preservation of stonework . After all the rain weve had , sturdy footwear is useful on the grassy areas but we didnt encounter any seriously deep mud. More toilets in the village - clean & tidy , next door is a covered bus shelter. Sadly we didnt use the Coach & horses as wed had a huge breakfast on our journey but it looked very inviting. Our favourite areas were on the high walls to the East , the South ( with views down the beautiful valley to the West ) & the Western wall . We felt it was like being on Hadrians Wall. There are grass paths on top of & below the walls . A short walk uphill from the South gate brings you out at the village toilets , with a short walk to the Church of St Stephen & St Tathan. The Churchyard is beautifully kept . Interior of the Church is very peaceful , with some interesting stone artefacts , a Mosaic & Roman Altars in the porch ( there is a card reader donation facility in the Church ). We will definitely return to visit the site again & to walk in this lovely area . On our return journey , we looked for Family gifts & had tea , coffee , cakes at the well stocked , nearby Chepstow...
