Google keeps asking me for reviews of Ashgrove House, so I'll relent. Essentially it's an old mansion house that has been split into approximately 100 apartments / studios. The apartments are extremely dated, and the public areas are neglected.
There's an overwhelming, vomit-inducing stench of human sewage from the cesspit as you enter / leave the driveway, which is riddled with suspension killing potholes.
The phone signal is non-existent, and the building is miles away from the nearest internet exchange, so don't even try and bother with broadband because it won't work.
The intercom hasn't worked for at least 15 years, so good luck getting parcels delivered. On the off chance the delivery driver can get into the building, most parcels are left on a table and subsequently go missing.
There's no CCTV, and the stench of cannabis permeates the building. In light of the above, rent is cheap, but people don't stick around for long, so you don't get to know your neighbours. It feels like a transient community, welcoming all waifs and strays, until they inevitably move on after a few weeks or months.
Some tenants use the carpark as their own junk yard, storing countless broken motorbikes and cars around the place, taking up valuable parking spaces. Well, I assume they're tenants, they could be anyone really, as there's literally no form of security, or access control.
Anyway I digress, I think Ashgrove House is a very interesting property, and I award it two stars because it's a lovely old building with a great deal of potential. In it's current state I'd avoid it like the plague, but if somebody spends some money on it, then it could be an idyllic place to live,...
Read moreGreat weekend away for the annual family trip. We stayed in lodge 3 which was lovely plenty of room for us, 6 adults 2 children and a dog 😁 Nice views from the windows. Can park your cars right outside. Has everything you need for cooking and cleaning, 2 towels each provided, comfy clean beds, great showers ( 3 bathrooms). There is no central heating but after the first night it soon warmed up, i recommend taking your own ice tray if you want ice for drinks. Would recommend the lodges for any occasion. Hot tub was great, don't forget...

Rooms have plenty of space and the mattresses are super comfy. I could go on and on about the quality of the place and the service. Big thanks to Tom for helping us with any issues...
