Wonderful introduction to the world of Cornish tin mines. Part of the mineral trail this now abandoned tin mine has plenty of history and atmosphere to offer. Information boards at the entrance to the above ground mine buildings (however we did look up more details online). Car parking (free) on mud / gravel at the base of the mine. Walking for about 20 minutes will take you up to the engine house and chimneys of one section of the mine. Stunning views across the valley to further mines on the opposite hills. Uneven and sloped pathways throughoutâŚrecommend sturdy footwear and checking out routes before going. Disability access restricted depending on disability of course. There is a large car park nearby, which is substantially pot holed so preced with care. The walk to the site is a couple of minutes down an adjacent footpath. There are info boards , but these have seen better days and we're particularly difficult to read in the wet. There are no facilities on site. It can be busy in places, and not all dog walkers are considerate in picking up their pooch's mess, but some of the views are stunning. Diversions available up Carn Brea to see the Basset monument and 'castle', and if you don't mind a short stretch of road there is even a friendly pub (The Countryman Inn in Carnkie) en route.
