Lytes Cary Manor, nestled in the heart of Somerset, is a true National Trust treasure. Steeped in history, the well-preserved manor house brims with fascinating period details, each one revealing a snippet of its illustrious past. The staff are well-versed and passionate, further enriching the captivating historical journey. The manor's gardens are the star of the show, boasting a splendid array of topiaries, flowerbeds and orchards. Each section of the garden, from the wisteria-laden arbours to the serene herb garden, offers its own slice of charm. It's not just a spectacle for the eyes, but also a sanctuary for local wildlife, creating a delightful blend of history and nature. In short, Lytes Cary Manor is an absolute gem, offering a splendid fusion of historical interest and horticultural beauty. A must-visit for anyone seeking a grand day out...

We've visited this property a lot over the years. The part of the house that's open is small. Quite interesting but doesn't take long to go round. Staff helpful and informative. Grounds also small but pretty. I always try to be positive about places I visit and aim to give a fair balanced review. The thing that let's this place down is the tea room. Bland, little choice of food, paper cups for drinks. We had a cream tea, one scone each, one mini jar of jam each, an individual container of cream, one tea one Americano, Β£14. The scone was very tasty but the whole place lacked the feeling of an experience. Limited choice of food. Very very basic and not worth the price. The two people serving gave the impression that they weren't that interested in you and lacked...

Interesting place to look around. V friendly informative volunteers. Had to wait just a tiny bit to go into the house for the info talk (which you could choose to listen, or just go explore the place yourself). House is closed for a tiny bit round lunchtime.

Unfortunately, when we visited, the gardens were mostly closed due to previous heavy rain turning the grass paths to mud, so only the shingled path around the house was open. You can do longer walks in the surrounding area, but again due to all the rain, we didn't due to excessive mud (tho that was up to us). Had lunch from the cafe. Seating inside is a bit tight when busy, but there is outside seating for when the weather is ok. Dogs allowed in park and outside cafe area, but not in formal...

Nice manor house. The staff are very friendly and approachable. Also the staff are very knowledgeable about the rooms and surrounding areas of the manor house. When you first go inside the house you are given a book describing the rooms you are going in, and bits about the objects you will see. The rooms are well layed out. With a member of staff to answer any questions, and helps out as much as they can. The gardens are really nice, and has a good flow to each section of the gardens. There is three walks available to walk around the grounds. Each walk offers you options for an easy walk to more longer walks. Sadly some of the arrows guiding you around are fading on some of the walks, so you have to have a little guess work to get you on the right path.

On arrival we were advised of 2 walks to take around this property. As it was raining we were offered Umbrellas by a member of staff to take on a walk.We had to wait for the house to be opened which was at set timed. There have been only 2 National Trust places I've not enjoyed and this is one of them. I cannot put my finger on it but I did not enjoy it, only one person in the property spoke to me a lovely lady. One gentlemen gave a historical account of the place in the main hall. On all I've been to there's far too many staff than needed here just sat in rooms. This does seem more a place people come to to just walk their dog. You can't really spend a long time in the house
