Forty Acre Plantation Lake — Attraction in Chelmsford

I fished the 27th through to the 29th of oct 23 and for what it is the place is over priced with the bailiff holding his hand out for money before i had got my gear out of my motor. There is no maintenance done and the swims are a joke when it rains. I placed some rubbish in the shed that used to be used for rubbish that apparently is not used for this anymore. The bailiff had come down to tell me that this is not used for rubbish anymore and can i take it home with me. which was not a problem until his forked tongued wife turned up swearing and cursing and telling my nine year old son that she hopes he falls in the lake and DROWNS!!!!!!!!!! This woman is completely poisonous. If fishing in a hole in the ground is something you are into then go for it. Otherwise STAY AWAY. I would also like to add that the venue is more than likely to be dodging more tax than Geoffrey Archer. £56.00 for two rods for 24 hours x another 5 people on the lake i'll let you dp the maths and they can't even make...

Far far to many pegs round the lake so I had to fish rod length out so you don’t cut of any one else, very pricey cost me £55 for 24hrs as the website prices are wrong according to bailiff and it’s also £10 extra per person for visitors that aren’t fishing I had my young son as he was just watching and I was fishing so very very pricey, rats coming all around my Bivvy and a stray dog no one knew who it belonged to that was shaking and looked poorly. Overall very very disappointed due to not being able to cast out and fish properly and the pricing was incorrect on website and the conditions of the lake with animals and pests, clearly not very well looked after and doubt I’ll go back to fish again I’ll stick with all the other lakes I’m a member with and the day ticket waters all over essex I fish don’t think I’ll...

Love this lake. Been a few times and only blanked once. Good swims and lovely surroundings. The main reason for this post is I just read a bad one about the bailiff. I couldnt disagree more. The geezer is good as gold, friendly and helpful. So many lakes have rude bailiffs who expect you to know everything about everything. This isnt one of them. So, great lake, great Bailiff and I beleive very reasonably priced. This is now our go to lake.
