We went on a free heritage day, although it only costs about £3 anyway. It is usually only open for a couple of Sundays per month plus summer bank holidays. The volunteers were very informative and keen to explain how things work and it was all very interesting. It's not a huge place, but we went for a stroll along the river to the old Petworth railway station, where they serve cream teas, and so we spent a couple of hours there.

Excellent displays and knowledgeable volunteers bring local industrial history to life. Beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Adequate parking. Clean, up to date toilet facilities. Be sure to check website for opening times to avoid disappointment.

I have been passed for many years to and from Petworth and never got the chance to look inside until yesterday. The chap who spoke to us was very friendly and helpful who told us all about the pump.

The whole site has been beautifully restored. It is a very interesting place with all the exhibits annotated clearly. As ever, I was dragged along by my husband but found it all very absorbing and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend to any age group as there were pumps and equipment that children could work. Good value but must catch them on...

Great little attraction with lots of interesting information boards, small kid-friendly demonstrations of various water pumps, and a nice nature trail to walk around, currently with a 'Wind in the Willows' activity sheet. Lovely and knowladgeable volunteers too - a great...
