We enjoyed what we saw of the centre but it is clear that limited money is being spent on overall maintenance. Rusted metal everywhere etc. but some fancy new steps are being slowly built 🤷‍♀️

We were very disappointed by the cafe, however. No menus on tables, limited choices of food, poor kids menu, seating in poor condition. We were sold on the cafe from the website that said “healthy menu” for kids but a single lunchbox containing a fruit juice, sandwich and a bag of crisps advertised as Pom Bears (but weren’t) isn’t a menu. A tuna mayo sandwich as the only option she would eat, with the sandwich containing more mayo than tuna followed by crisps isn’t a healthy meal for an 18 month old.

Rather than putting some fancy menu options like Spanish tortilla, slow cooked pork and a savoury cheesecake, why not do food options that people want, like jacket potatoes! A bit of salad in the baguettes wouldn’t kill them either!

Another one of those cafes at a nice wildlife centre, which is being run into the ground. Speculate to accumulate. Make yourself an attraction and more...

The area was lovely and there are different walks around the site which depends on your ability of walking, there are signs to let you know of the difficulty. You can also paddle board or canoe along the river. The centre has a self catering holiday cottage within the park. There is a car park near to the cafe and gift shop, but there are only 2 or 3 disability parking spaces. The only down side is the cafe, we had lunch there but queued up for almost 40mins to be served although the queue was not that long but the service leaves a lot to be desired as the people there where very slow. The food was brought to you quickly once you had ordered and payed. The menu was good maybe too much of a choice. My Husband and I talked about the service and came to the conclusion that they need two tills one for food orders and another for snacks. There are some picnic tables if you bring your own food and drink. I don't think you can have a barbecue on the...

Didn't find this location that great and seemed to be missing something. Wandered from the carpark to the centre then followed the path to the river where there were some wadding birds. Followed the path through an overgrown path only to find ourselves back in the carpark. Returned to the centre for a cuppa and scratched our head wondering if we had miss a Path of something. On return to the carpark we noticed the longer walk that we should have done, but by this time we couldn't be bothered. It's a shame that the two areas are not joined together and that you had to go to the visitor center as the start and end of the trail. What's the point about this centre apart from toilets, shop and the cafe. Carpark is very small and I didn't see the overflow carpark sign until returning to the carpark before leaving. It's a shame as I had high hopes for this visit with the long entrance road it just seemed...

Short walks looked nice, but we thought we'd take the long one (red route). Unfortunately there where only signs at one end to say it was shut, due to dangerous neglected board walk!! When we finally got round there was a sign at the opposite end, not good enough really the gate at the end of the tarmac route should of been locked and signed (other than the half torn sign to say one of the hides was closed) CAFE LOOKED NICE and had outdoor seating but was shut by the time we got back. Website should also include closing times (4pm) not just lunch and new year day times! General impression was posh cafe, rest of the site old and poorly neglected. Though if run on donations I suppose it's difficult.

Had a great experience walking around the wetlands and wildlife areas, although some of the walkways are in need of repair there's still some excellent birdwatching and wildlife viewing opportunities. The main hides are in good condition and although one was recently destroyed by arson😠 the remainder offer good views. We saw Kingfisher, Curlew, and many other relatively rare birds you might spend along time trying to see elsewhere. The cafe and shop are well laid out for Covid spacing and informative and the other activities such as canoeing and cycling are readily available. The parking meter is not working at present and parking is paid for at the shop.
