Extremely inconsiderate of those with disabilities that require parking nearby to places. The wording on their website is very aggressive regarding parking and doesn’t consider in the slightest those who may not be able to access places via public transport, foot or cycle and need to park closer for genuine reasons related to their disability.

I suggest they consider all of the existing disabled parking schemes including blue badges if they need guidance on the existence of people that need to park closely to places in order to access them. The lack of provision means that these people are unable to visit and enjoy the Weir as other people are.

There are clearly assumptions/generalisations being made about everyone who parks closely to places based on bad experiences but this doesn’t apply to everyone. The disabled people I know would be more than happy to prove their genuine need to park close by if it meant that it would enable them to access activities that they...

Lovely spot for outside swimming. Perfect for a refreshing swim in the heat of the summer. Very advised to go early though especially when it’s predicted to be nice weather. Gets very very busy, very very fast.

With only one way down/ up from the weir can be a little challenging at busy times with covid.

There is a nice grass surround on one side of the wier that people use to sunbathe and dry off on after a dip in the wier but again it is relatively small and fills up fast.

Defiantly best for early mornings to beat the crowds before 9 with just a handful of people there prior.

Would advise not to drive as very little parking with access down a very small country lane.

The depth of the wier varies from just a few feet in the shallows where you enter up to 8 feet in the deepest part after the bend where there is a small bank that people often dive off of.

If you do decide to go for the day, please use common sense and take your rubbish home with you as no...

Absolutely love this place I feel completely free almost apart from there is always someone who has to complain about people playing music and generally having fun why can't people just let people be and let them get on with their lives there's enough stress in the world as it is if you don't like what people are doing then move on there's a whole wide world out there yeah I'm sure there's somewhere else you can find or just learn to live a little and socialize and be a bit more open-minded and optimistic people only want to have fun that come to these places and relax meaning doing what they like without the stress of other people trying to tell them what to do ruining the time they are trying to have anyway people who understands me on this just stay positive and don't let them bring you down and ruin your memories and fun and always keep smiling...

Such a lovely spot for a cold dip on a sunny day or any time really. Absolutely beautiful weir and the river seems clean here. The access to water is down steps or dirt slopes so not easy for less mobile persons. The parking is the big issue as down Ferry lane is very tight with no real places to park though a handful of cars do manage one has to consider emergency access if required could be blocked and delayed because of irresponsible parking. The canal walk is awesome and well maintained, the field with weir access has been mowed but still a bit rough to walk on and the grass by edge of weir is patchy and dusty . Overall for a fit family or couples it's a privilege to be allowed access. I wish all humans felt the same cause some still leave rubbish and dog mess despite their being ample size dumpsters to clear it !!!

Beautiful! You can reach it by walking/cycling along the canal or by car. If you want to relax better going early in the morning and week days if possible as very popular for groups in summer and the field close to it is not huge if you want to sit and have a picnic. You can also walk or swim there with caution obviously. Free of charge but at the entry of the field there is a box for coin donation so bringing a pound or 2 to help keep the place tidy and cared for would be nice. If you want to drink or eat there remember to take a bin bag with you and bring your rubbish "at home" as there are no bins in the area.
