Title: Disappointing Experience: Avoid the Golf Club Bar's Guinness
As a seasoned Guinness enthusiast, my recent visit to the golf club bar left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Celebrating my 50th birthday should have been a memorable occasion, but the poor quality of the Guinness served tainted the entire experience.
Upon ordering my favorite stout, I was met with a pint that fell far short of expectations. The Guinness lacked its signature creamy texture and rich flavor, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively. It was evident that the bar was not maintaining the high standards expected of such an iconic beverage.
Adding insult to injury was the exorbitant price tag attached to this subpar pint. For the amount charged, one would expect nothing short of perfection, yet what I received was far from it. It was disheartening to realize that the establishment was cutting corners by purchasing cheaper kegs of beer from wholesalers, compromising on freshness and quality.
Further investigation revealed that the bar did not source its beer directly from the brewery, a practice that likely contributed to the decline in quality. Instead, they opted for shortcuts that ultimately left patrons like myself with a bad taste in our mouths, both figuratively and, unfortunately, quite literally.
The repercussions of this disappointing experience extended beyond just a ruined birthday celebration. It left me with a lingering stomach discomfort, a stark reminder of the consequences of consuming poorly maintained and inferior beverages.
In conclusion, I urge fellow patrons to exercise caution when considering ordering Guinness at the golf club bar. The combination of subpar quality, inflated prices, and questionable sourcing practices make it an experience best avoided. As for me, regrettably, my 50th birthday celebration was marred by this unfortunate encounter, serving as a cautionary...
Read moreWe booked 6 caddies for our group of 8 weeks in advance and confirmed a few days before.. When we got there for our game they only had 4. The 2 caddies in our group were called at the last minute - they only lived a few minutes walk away. The caddies in our group carried 2 bags each - the caddie I had drove a buggie as one of the guys in our group had a bad hip. The Club charges 40 pounds per bag for a senior caddie. Most courses charge a lower rate per bag when one caddie carries two bags.
The caddie I had was lazy - he mostly sat in the cart and only provided advice on the tee box and greens. A total waste of 40 pounds. The second caddie provided poor putting advice.
This club should not charge the same price per bag when a caddie carries 2 bags. This may help with teir caddie shortage - as right now it is a no brained to take a single caddie.
The quality of caddies in our experience was poor and it totally ruined a golf game at a beautiful course we had high hopes for.
I complained to the pro shop and spoke to a member in the clubhouse about the caddie issue - I left my name and email address but have had no response.
Maybe if they get a few more complaints they will fix their...
Read moreAs a first time attending the Open, it was an Amazing experience and to top it all the weather was fabulous. A few tips, be prepared for crowds, long walks to get to different services within the visitor area and queues for everything!!For example, at the merchandise shop, I queued for 1hour to get inside…then items had run out but I did manage to get an umbrella which I wanted ( as the smaller shops around the Venus/ course had run out… ) then another long queue at the check out!! All in all that took me 1.5hrs! There is no avoiding long waits to access all the stands to view the golf. The reserved seats were left empty. Lastly, on arrival at the entry gate.. we waited 1.5hrs to get in!!! Again I think the organisers need to improve this for future events. It’s not for the faint hearted and so planning how you spend your time and navigating around the course to watch the players is crucial… but remember to embrace every moment and enjoy...
