Known locally and historically as Kenfig Sands. (Sker is the nearby point and house). The beach is accessible from Rest Bay along the coastal path or more quickly through the myriad of paths through Kenfig National Nature Reserve. It is very quiet and a long stretch of sandy beach bounded by a pebble bank and the dunes of the nature reserve. At one end its the life saving club huts and further along the Wreck of the MV Altmark. Afon Kenfig also flows through it, after which it becomes the Margam Sands up until the Steel Works boundary.

I visited Sker Beach on a cloudy and misty day, which unfortunately didn’t allow me to fully appreciate its beauty. I spent most of my time in the southern, rockier part of the beach, which had a rugged charm but felt quite desolate in the gloomy weather. Looking at photos from other visitors, it’s clear that this place must be stunning on a sunny day, with its golden sands and open views. I can only imagine how breathtaking it would be under clear skies, and I hope to return someday to experience it in its full glory.

One of the best beaches before the Gower. The great joy of this beach is its vast openness and the fact you’ll very rarely see more than a few people. Little bit of a trek to get there, either through the Sand Dunes at Kenfig Nature Reserve or from Rest Bay at Porthcawl. The beach is clean, the water is part of the Bristol Channel so not the cleanest. Nudists do use the far end of the beach, so do not be offended.

2025... Hottest day of the year predicted... and could not sleep because it was just to hot. So at 5am I went for a walk in Kenfig.. Absolutly no cars in the car park so decided to strip off and had a naked walk to the beach through the dunes then along the beach to the river Not another sole anywhere, and what a lovely walk it was, birds singing the sun shinning and the temperature was just about perfect....... BUT what a shame I would have loved to take a skinny dip but so much sxxt - or should I be polite and say sewage near the waters edge All in all I would recomend getting up at the crack of dawn going over to Kenfig, Stripping of and walking to the beach........ The recomendation is for Nudist / Dog walkers / Joggers or...

A great expanse of sand when the tide is out.. Never many people here usually dog walkers horse riders and other sun lovers as its a fair walk through the dunes. I am always able to walk naked along the beach.... The far end by the river is were most naturist head for but I'm quite happy anywhere along the shore line... Most of the naturists are men with the occasional lady did see a lovely girl who gave a wave to me this week as she was making her way to the far end.. Make sure you walk along the signposted paths as it can get...
