Lovely walk around the gardens, which had changed a lot since I was last there probably 13 years ago! It was packed full of drifts of snowdrops. I'm not sure how many different varieties there were, but my favourites were probably Galanthus Augustus, which were broad leaved and with plump snow white flowers. There were a lot of beautiful hellebores there too. The kids did the nature trail so meant we went everywhere! The cafe was really nicely done in that it was done on an honesty scheme format, so therefore very orderly with labels everywhere, with so much choice of hot drinks and lovely big slabs of cake (the lemon drizzle looked gorgeous, but we'd bought our own snacks for the monsters) and a dishwasher to put all the dirties away. There was a little shop off the wonderful walled kitchen garden, which sold sprouting/flowering bulbs, indoor plants and little succulents. There was also tables at entrance/exit that had plants for sale - notably at this time of year, different snowdrops!! I have to say that it was not expensive either, and therefore the visit felt more pleasurable. I will be considering a season pass here, as it would be lovely to come back and see how changed the gardens become throughout spring, summer and autumn. And lovely to support a...

Lovely walled garden and plants, and woodland walks/trails. Nice little (serve yourself) café with (inside and) outside seating and tables. Good coffee and cake/s.

Used my power chair on the gravel paths, inc. finding one not too steep to get up to the cafe. (Alternatively, park your power chair/scooter on a lower path and walk up to the café.)

Managed a little way along one or two of the less steep bark chippings/woodland paths, where well compressed, but had to retreat where they became steep and/or the way forward was steep and/or muddy/slippy.

(A little plant + pot etc shop near the cafe also.)

So not a lot of navigable paths for power chairs or lightweight scooters, but stilll enjoyable.

PS: We didn't try the 'one mile' (?) Nature Trail, so that might poss. be navigable by power chair or portable scooter. We also spotted a children's play area not far away, but didn't go down the slope to it. I expect we/I could manage it on another visit, albeit I'd prob. need to walk back up and we'd prob. push/guide the power chair back up the slope under...

I love this garden! Last time we visited we bought an annual membership for a very reasonable price as we decided that we would like to visit regularly to enjoy it in different seasons. Today it is full of spring.and we thoroughly enjoyed wandering around looking at helibores, daffodils, hyacinths etc.. The woodland walk is covered in wild garlic which isn't quite in flower but will soon make it's own display, one we hope to catch on our next visit. After a good explore we visited the bothy for a drink. It's self service and based on an honesty system but very well stocked and very reasonably priced (pot of Tea Pigs tea, cafetiere of coffee and a big slice of lemon drizzle cake £7.25). It's not a big garden but also isn't overly popular so not crowded and the children doing an unobtrusive Easter trail didn't bother us at all as they searched for their clues. If you are anywhere nearby I would highly recommend visiting for a...
