Crickley Hill parking rip off. I've been visiting Crickley hill since I was a child and now with my grandchildren. It's always been one of my favourite places for a walk. On 1st July this year went there with my son and grandchildren only to find the car park machine not working and several others there with the same problem. Well it's not my fault if I can't pay I thought so we all went for our walk. About a week later I got a £60 fine from a company called Minster Baywatch to be paid in 14 days, after that it goes up to £100. I appealed the fine without any luck being told I should have used their app on my phone. I explained I didn't take my phone with me only to be told I should have left the site if I couldn't pay. Well I would have paid if the car park machine was working ! Apparently I'm not the only one to be ripped off as there are hundreds giving bad reviews on TripAdviser about the same problem. I have had good memories of Crickley Hill over the years which has been spoilt by this latest experience. Besides the ripped off public the other big loosers will be Gloucester wildlife and the National Trust. I for one will never visit greedy Crickley Hill Park again and suspect may others will...

Such a beautiful place, positioned high above the city of Gloucester and the Severn Plain, the views are beautiful from Crickley Hill Country Park (which is jointly managed by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and the National Trust). More than 1,300 species have been recorded there, from rare birds, butterflies and reptiles to wildflowers and toadstools according to their website. Crickley Hill is recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its diversity of wildflowers and geology, I saw so much, you don’t have to go too far from the car park to prove all this.

In ancient times people lived and worked there, with evidence found of a Iron Age hill fort and much history before and after that too.

There is a cafe there just as you enter the main carpark area, you’ll need to check the times and dates it is open. They do an array of good quick lunch options, tea and coffee. If you need to spend a penny too, there are toilet facilities at the same location.

Worth a visit, beautiful views all year round, the clearer the day the further and more you can see.

Make sure to leave only your footprints in this beautiful place, where our ancestors also...

We stopped here en route to Scotland for a break, pulled into the car park. My husband went and paid for parking (ex military and scrupulously honest). It took three attempts before it appeared to process his payment and registration details. We then took a stroll with our dog's around this lovely site and went for a coffee at the visitor area before continuing our journey to Scotland. On return from our holiday a parking ticket awaited us. We instantly challenged it only to find on deeper investigation that my husband's card was never processed, although my card payment was (from the coffee shop). So it seems we inadvertently didn't pay and are now liable for £60 (if we pay within 14 days) £100 if paid later!! That's one extremely expensive coffee break. I'm wondering if the parking company films our entry and exit, why don't they log times of attempted payment/transactions on the parking machine? It seems we can't challenge this because the payment didn't process, therefore technically, we hadn't paid! Watch out at this site with the parking payment machines!! We will never...

Beautiful place, some parts you can let the dogs off to run other parts they have to be on a lead. This didn't stop our fun, we explored the whole hill, views are amazing and the woods are stunning and well worth looking for hidden little treasures of nature. Parking is only £3 all day but you can park for less if you're not staying that long. The cafe is excellent, the food is delicious, nicely cooked and tasty. The staff there were so helpful and went beyond their call of duty, I couldn't fault them and will definitely go back one day. They also have toilets here, dog hooks and water bowl.
