A great place to walk over part of the old Oglivie Colliery site. See the pit wheel. The paved paths are excellent. The vast majority of walks are along gentle sloping paths. The small lake is inhabited by geese and ducks. There are other paths which are not paved so be aware of the weather beforehand as they can be waterlogged. Not flat like Bryn Bach Part (which is flat) as it is sheltered from winds. Haven't tried the cafeteria yet.
Update August 2022
Since first post more of the park has been covered. Extended circular walk to the south past Deri. Some great views that you never see from the road. Went down the Eastern side on tarmaced patch. At the southernmost point there is a steep un-tarmaced path downhill to the western side tarmaced path. This is a gradual uphill path. Apologies but didn't record the number of steps on this walk.
This week's walk was to the north to Fochriw. Crossed to the eastern side again and took an un-tarmaced path to forestry. There were a few swing gates. Great scenery with some fallen trees east of the path. Uphill tarmaced path when you cross back across the river. The walk continued outside the park still on tarmaced path to Fochriw. There is one short steep gradient downhill on this path which has to be negotiated uphill on the return journey. Great views down valley on the way back. Did just over 9,000 steps...
