Really great place for a game of footgolf with a difference. It's not just basic golf with a football - kick a ball down a green and into a hole. It's actually an 18 hole crazy golf with a football and great fun and a good test if skill for several holes. Just trying to get the par for a hole is a great challenge in several cases. I got 20 for the tricky 4th I think it was - anyway it was kick through a sort of window frame then into a hoop with net that was about a meter if the ground at the end as the pin. I am a bit rubbish maybe but it was still great fun and a lovely looking site with views across open fields at the back of the course. The facilities are little basic - single portaloo for toilet being the possible off-putting one for some people. There is a nice marque and pub benches sit on outside the little hut you pay at for golf and food and drinks and a good area for around 30-40 cars right outside the course. Not sure what's on offer food and drink wise as we just did the footgolf. You order a place in advance to play and pay on arrival or just turn up. It wasnt too busy in the first week of summer holiday so no waiting for others on the next hole - good with some harder holes - 4th I am looking at you ;-) Would recommend anyone with football mad kids visiting overall they might need a bit of help with some of the holes but it's a great way to have fun together and I chatted with others as we went around joking about how many attempts we had at some holes and we all seemed to be having just as much fun as each other. A round will take at least 1.5 hours suggested and I would suggest you allow longer if you have a group of 4 or more people or some with a lower footy skill level...
Read moreHas a fun time, spent about 1.5hours completing the course.
Staff really friendly and accommodating (we did arrive 30minutes before our pre-booked time), but that wasn't a problem. Has a small shop at the main kiosk that sells drinks (incl. Alcoholic) and snacks, and a bench seating area with parasouls.
Good quality, pumped up footballs provided along with a scorecard and a pen. All holes had clear instructions of expectations (except the 'red' markers aren't red, but anyone with any sense can figure that out).
However, the major issue with the course is the slight incline which gets worse on hole 4? and 5?, so a little tap goes a long way and also the ball just keeps rolling back down the hill no matter what you do. I am not sure if this would happen if we had had any rain in last month, but ground was very hard and no grass. (Lack of rain, not the business' fault.). Will try again once normal British weather resumes, but if incline still a problem, more fencing or leveling out some of the course would...
Read moreWe echo some of the thoughts of the previous review. We were really excited to support a local new venture, especially regarding sport. But the course is on a hill and makes for a very frustrating experience. My 12 year old writes "Very disappointed, on a hill, the ball would just go down when you kick it, even with a gentle tap, then you kick it back to the hole, it just rolls straight back down, I was not satisfied one bit with the course 😔". So the expected 4 par is often more like 10-15, if not giving up altogether. Owner was lovely which is 1 of the stars and 1 star for the free kick area. Such a shame, some low level barriers would help enormously to keep this a fun experience. So sorry but need...
