Brilliant walk from the top down to Branscombe. Like a different world with completely different flora and fauna compared to the surrounding beach and cliffs. Word of advice to overly keen husbands/dads: the well-trodden narrow path leading off to the right does NOT lead up to the caves on the cliffside. It instead gets steeper and steeper, reaches a dead end and then leaves you carrying your kids back down on your bum. Trust me.

A place to refresh the soul. Be careful if you take small dogs: the fencing is variable and it is a regular thing for little dogs to chase rabbits through the fence wire and down the cliff. Also, there are often cattle and or sheep around, so do make sure your dog is on a lead - and do pick up your dog poo, please. It is very beautiful and can be extremely difficult going when the wind is strong from the south/south west.

Walked a circular route from Beer to Branscombe. Took the lower path after Beer Head under the cliffs to Branscombe and returned by path above cliffs. Impressive scenery. Peregrine Falcon spotted at cliffs. Parts of lower path is narrow and steep in places, but has steps. Total walk under 5 miles from Beer beach. Branscombe has cafe.

An outstandingly beautiful walk. Please note, not suitable for young children, the infirm, the less mobile and those scared of heights. There are two routes, one on top of the cliffs, and one running below that can be made into a circular walk from either Beer or Branscombe beach (also known as Sea Shanty).

The upper walk can be done by the fit, and there is easy access from the upper Beer car park (Beer head), but there is a steep climb at the Branscombe end.

Similarly, the lower walk can be accessed easily from Branscombe Beach (Sea Shanty), but soon involves increasing ascents and Decent. Near Beer head the views are breathtaking, but the path only suitable for those with good footwear, a steady posture and a head for heights, not a place for flimsy footwear or wheeled walking aids!

It is a challenging walk, but the effort is rewarded with breathtaking views and access to a...

This is a great walk to find! I walked along the beach from Branscombe car park along the pebbles to where the cliffs fell away. You can see a large boulder which fell down and shows the extent of the cliff collapse. Look for a narrow path just before this leading up through the created valley. It's a good path if wearing reasonable shoes and steps in the steeper section. Reach the top and then return along the cliffs on a well marked path or extend to Beer & then...

A ramble through the Hooken Undercliff, where a dramatic landslip in 1790 left a tumbled landscape where thick vegetation is speared through by spectacular white cliffs and pinnacles, providing a haven for wildlife. Returning along the clifftops above, where there are spectacular views in either direction of red cliffs soaring beyond the white, the walk links the villages of Beer and Branscombe with tales of smugglers, Romans...
