Branscombe has several National Trust owned small properties - a Forge, Baker Cafe, Mill and walks to and from the beach

Regrettably (not shown on the NT site) all but the Forge are shut in winter - including the toilets!

Fortunately the village hall has toilets.

The NT car park is tiny - 4 or 5 cars at most so do not expect to get a space on busy (sunny) days

Walk through the village and fields to the beach is very pleasnat with good signs and clearly marked paths.

Beach side parking is pay and display near the Shanty Beach cafe (separate review)

Whilst the NT properties are scenic, most of the visible village is less so. The seaside scenery is also very spectacular with a 2 mile walk from Branscombe east to Beer. A very good day out for...

Such a shame although lockdown had been lifted when I visited which was first week in June 2021 the Forge/blacksmiths was just open to walk round there was no information what so ever use to happen there or any talks happening. The mill and tea rooms were shut - tea room not due to open till Spring 2022! Which was a surprise. There was nothing else besides these 3 outlets and a pub which was quite a way away. Personally I was very disappointed especially after reading such interesting facts...

Small and wonderful the bakery is a must visit the cream tea was the best we had that week and we had one everyday. Warm scone, big pot of Earl Grey, and all in a quirky thatched cottage full of the old pictures of how it used to be. Only 5 spaces for NT members and there's a 10 minute leisurely walk to the beach down the side of a brook and through a farm. Beach is pebbles and there's a decent cafe and shop there. But the cafe is nowhere near as good as the old bakery!

Just the cutest place! Parking available at the village hall for a donation in the well next to the forge. Nice flat easy walk to the beach where there is then a cafe. Beach is pebbles and dog friendly but not ideal for dogs with the pebbles as they are. The village is just beautiful and its lovely to see the forge. Sadly the tea room was closed but I loved the thatched houses. Highly recommend!!

Great little hamlet to wander around. There was a cute little iron work shop selling bespoke items. The gentleman was lovely and you could watch him make pieces. There is an information area with maps showing you what's around. The cafe was open but not the waterwheel yet. There is a bus route, public toilets and carpark down by the beach (3/4 mile away)
