Wormley wood is a delightful wood. Despite it being lovely weather, there were very few other visitors that we saw which made it all the more peaceful. We found some interesting fungi. We also saw dozens of speckled wood butterflies. The paths were generally well maintained although there was a large fallen tree blocking one of the main paths. On the walk we almost got lost because there was a large stretch without any path marker posts following an ambiguously signed junction (indeed most of the junctions were a bit puzzling). The sign for the car park was not visible to us because we were going in the westerly direction so we had to miss it and turn around a mile further on. Fortunately, coming from the west and driving east the sign becomes visible. Pity two signs were not provided.

The life-size boar carvings were our favourites .The car park was quite messy - it seemed they had a couple of anti-social...
Read moreExcellent place to visit. You can get lost in the wonderful surroundings and be at one with nature. We make regular trips to the Woods to experience the changing seasons. Highly recommend, but remember to take your rubbish HOME, you are not the only one who uses the Woods, it is home to many...
Read moreI am fortunate that Broxbourne Woods are on my doorstep it is a wonderful location, for walking, horse riding and the odd cycle ride. A large part of the wood is a managed forest however in recent years there has been some devastation wrought by heavy machines removing trees alongside charming dells on a couple of the streams, but they are now recovering fairly well even so some of the older trails have been obliterated. However, much is still wonderful, Ermine Street passes through the woods northwards to Hertford town and is fairly well used by local...
