Spent a few hours meandering along the bank of the river Waveney. Beautiful day sun shining but slight nip in the air. Very quiet. Occasionally passed another walker. 3 hides to view the wetland areas. Good sightings of red kites, kestrels, marsh harrier, variety of ducks and geese. Free car park (small) on opposite side of main area of reserve. Lovely viewing platform just by the car park overlooking the reed beds. No toilet facilities within the reserve. Definitely worth a visit. Beautiful river on one side and the wetlands and reeds on the other. Peace and tranquility...
Read moreLate afternoon just after 4.00 p.m. spent watching small murmuration of 1000 or so starlings go down over reed beds on 9th Nov. Saw Marsh harrier, Oyster catchers and terns. Nice place to enjoy open skies. Parking in Wildlife Trust car park then walk back towards the main road and cross over into main part of reserve. Environment Agency doing flood defence works next to road so there is some disturbance and temporary traffic lights over bridge but...

Otherwise, it's very pleasant there are 3 hides overlooking different areas, and we saw a wide selection of birds, including reed warblers, reed buntings, egrets, geese, etc as well as various repters flying...
