Nacton Shores — Attraction in East Suffolk

Beautiful, tree shaded, secluded foreshore along the east side of the River Orwell, quite unusual for having a soft sandy beach, rather than the more typical shingle & mud. Nacton Shores offers fantastic views of the Orwell Estuary & across the river towards Freston, Woolverstone, & Pin Mill. Endless photo opportunities, especially of the Orwell Bridge & a great recreational area for dogs. The view on the opposite side of the river is Wherstead & when the trees have lost their leaves it's possible to see the church tower atop the hill. Lovely place for a walk or picnic. Free parking but it is small and can get very busy making it difficult to find a space and the approaching lane is narrow. Car park gets locked at 8pm. No toilet facilities, but wonderful for walking along the riverside. If you take the path there are some nice elevated views of the river, best viewed at high tide. Nice scenery, no toilets either there or nearby and no stores in the nearby village so be sure to come prepared.
