It's so sad that this is only a 2 star. It should be 5 star plus!!! So.... the day was going brilliantly, me, my partner, my 5 year old non verbal autistic son and my 1 year old boy attended on the 2nd of August. We had a rover ticket and got on many of the great steam engines on show. Unfortunately one of the trains my eldest son and partner was on broke down, causing some stress to my son. The train was fixed asap and on it went, but my son kept trying to stand up. This is when the train guard got the train stopped and had a go at my son and partner infront of all the other passengers. "It's for his saftey" the guard said. My partner said "OK, sorry, but his autistic" .... with the guard responding again about saftey but rudely and embarrassing them at the same time. When my partner returned to the station she was in tears and so upset. Days out are so tough for us, but when people are rude and disrespectful it makes it so much harder. It was reported to the manager and hopefully the guard is going to have some training about...

You cant get much better than what is on offer at lakeside, There is a fantastic small Gauge railway that has Thomas the tank engine, The Eurostar and steam engines that you can either go coach or first class and sit in a cabin. Although the train journey around the lakes doesn't last long, it is great to get to the other side of the lakes without walking. If your looking for a bite to eat there is a cafe in the train shed that offers a variety of food as reasonable prices. The lakes are fantastic to walk around with family and friends and even pets are allowed. There are restrictions in some places of the lakes that require dogs to be on leads, however this is to protect the enjoyment of the anglers trying to...

We primarily came to visit this park as the young'un wanted to visit the miniature railway. Firstly I was pleasantly surprised that there is no charge for parking! Bit tight as it was busy, but still a win.

The park has a cafe right next to / joined to the railway, some toilets, a playground, the lake itself and conference / meeting area (only know this from looking at the building and wondering why it wasn't open - was semi expecting into be a visitor centre or something...!)

There is a small picnic area if you have bought food with you. The paths will take you round the lake - not a massive walk,...

This is a lovely semi-wild space for everyone to enjoy. It has green spaces to walk in, and beautiful lakes to stroll around and spot the different water fowl. A few fishermen too! On one lake yesterday people were sailing their radio-controlled model boats. There are picnic tables for family picnics. The paths around the site are suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs but it can get quite muddy in the winter months. There is parking and a cafe and toilets. There is also a small sit and ride railway which runs around the site which is fun.
