Lovely country park to take a walk. Theres a lovely trail of decorated stones that is so long, loads of BlackBerry bushes, many fields of wheat (or is it barley?) Great for long walks, or trail running and I noticed a sign board mentioning orienteering which would be fun to do. Theres a bridge that goes over the dual carriageway which my 4 year old absolutely loved to stand on and watch all the cars zoom by beneath him. We wernt really sure where to park as there was a red barrier down blocking access to what we assumed was the car park for castle hill country park but we could be wrong. There were about 3 spaces before the barrier which we were lucky enough to have got 1 of them when we arrived. So thats where we parked. Would definatly go there again. Only down side is the paths weren't suitable for the pushchair. So probably not the best place to go if ur travelling with a little one. Maybe take a sling instead.

This is a lovely unexpected place. Lots of variety from wooded trails to open hills, rivers and little tracks, to majestic views and places to ponder. It’s big yet caters for both short and longer walks. Well cared for and an absolute pleasure. It’s a private place where you can be alone yet there are people around. At times, the A46, which is well hidden, provides the unwelcome intrusive hum of traffic but the beauty of nature drowns this out as your eyes and other senses do the listening. From an old twisted oak tree to the sound of young birds singing there is something to suit all ages, families and single walkers. It really is a lovely surprising city treasure so close to the urban landscape.

Any green space is lovely! This is a nice untouched Country Park with wide footpaths and plenty of benches to rest. My first visit, I didn't realise how big it is. There are other country parks in the county that are far more beautiful though.

Nice country park for walking the dogs in, been coming for years and never seems that busy. There are paths around but not always great and can get very muddy if it’s been raining so beware. As this is local for us we normally walk to here as there is no designated parking, although you can street park at most entrances (Astill lodge road or Anstey entrances) there is a little pull in for about three cars on the road between thurcaston and anstey which is often used (can’t remember road name sorry). It does have the A46 running through the park but the noise is easily zoned out on the walk. Dogs love it there as it split into several fields. The walk we normally do around takes about 1 1/2hrs and is about 5km, but you can make the walk as long or short...
