Have passed this tower on the hill many times traveling the A49 so was pleased to see it is open to visitors roughly once a month. It's a steady climb up a smooth track for the first 700 yards then levels out to the tower. Great views from the top to many surrounding peaks. From the Malvern's,, to the Wrekin, Brown Clee and Cadet Idris. Interesting life story of the owner Benjamin Flounders. Look out for when the flag is flying as this shows the folly is open. Well done to all those involved in the restoration and the volunteers for opening the folly up for the public. Well...

What foresight the good Mr Flounders had and he never 'quaked' at the challenge. Only slight challenge for us today is the climb up the steel steps inside the tower that transport us to the viewing area at the top, which slopes and could be slippery when wet. Read moreIt's a bit of a walk, steeply uphill. There is supposed to be a direct route and an easy route. Well, the direct route was completely overgrown. The easy route is easy. Nice clean path. When you get to the hairpin bend you are only 8 minutes away. The views were a bit difficult due to self seeded trees and bushes, but there is a picnic table and chairs up there to rest on.
