I recently had the pleasure of visiting Hackpen Hill White Horse, and I must say, it was an experience I'll never forget. As I approached the site, the stunning white horse etched into the hillside captured my attention immediately. The craftsmanship and effort required to create such a magnificent figure is truly commendable.

The panoramic views from the top of Hackpen Hill were absolutely breathtaking. As I stood there, taking in the beauty of the surrounding countryside, I felt an overwhelming sense of awe and tranquility. The lush green landscape stretching out before me was a feast for the eyes, and I couldn't help but snap several photos to remember the moment.

For those who enjoy a leisurely hike, the trails leading up to the White Horse were well-maintained and easy to navigate. I appreciated the signage along the way, providing historical context and information about the area. I found myself marveling at the rich history and cultural significance of this...

One of my favourite places . Situated on the ancient Ridgeway with incredible views over the plain below . Always the wonderful song of Skylarks , and often Red Kites soaring along the ridge looking for carrion . Add in a couple of beautiful hairy-footed ponies in the same field as the White Horse , and occasionally , Highland Cattle in the next field , and you've got all the ingredients for raising your spirits ....

I recently visited this spot, and it was an absolutely incredible experience! It’s the perfect place to view the sunset and enjoy some peaceful time away from the hustle and bustle. The trails are excellent for hiking, with well-marked paths and breathtaking views at every turn. The tranquility and natural beauty make it a must-visit for anyone looking to relax and recharge. Highly recommend for nature lovers and sunset...

Really nice place to visit, parking an issue as its teaming with our 'free spirit' friends parked, camping etc everywhere. Roads in are good no issues there. Best view of the white horse is from the road in, stop at one of the sidings to snap a picture. There is a main trail path leading in both directions across the crest of hill, so good for cycling too. Only 4 stars as the masses which have congregated there made me feel uneasy.

Blowing the cobwebs off this new year (2022) was great at the Hackpen white horse. Limited parking along the Wansdyke path which runs above it - cross the road from the carpark and wander along a bit, heading towards Avebury to see the views, big birds of prey, if you are lucky, wild Pony's and also the long haired shaggy cattle Added a few photos from july 2025 horse looking good, very white and a real horse there too

Beautiful place with scenic views. The drive up the hill reveals such a beautiful landscape. There’s a small parking area here. I’d say on a busy day you can get around 20 cars parked here. The walk from here to Barbury castle takes around 30 minutes, it is lovely especially during clear skies and sunset. You’ll always come around other walkers, runners and cyclists.
