I parked at the top of Gotten Lane and walked up footpaths to St Catherine's Down from there. Don't know how long it took but it was quite a climb on rough tracks, partially overgrown in places. Don't expect any nice views when you get there, all you can see is hedges and trees! But if you want nice views you could extend the walk by going along to the right to St Catherine's Oratory. (In fact, a better way to get to the Hoy Monument is probably to park at the car park on Blackgang Road near St Catherine's Oratory and start the walk from there!)

Also known as the Alexandrian Pillar, it's 72 feet tall stone column located on St. Catherine's Down. It commemorates Tsar Alexander visit to Britain in 1814 and a later inscription honoring British soldiers in siege of Sebastopol during the Crimean War.

Cycled here with a group of family and friends First time i had seen this amazing place surrounded with bluebells. You don't need any tickets to view this place just walk through from Blackgang carpark.

A monument that has been erected in honour of Sir Chris Hoy, the esteemed Olympic cyclist. Chris used to love two-wheeling in the local area and was often found doing wheelies up the lanes. The statue itself is really groovy and really complements his...
