We had the most unforgettable day at Peckforton Castle for my partner’s 30th birthday, and it was all thanks to our incredible driving instructor, Colin. From the moment we met him, his warmth, professionalism, and enthusiasm made the whole experience feel extra special. Colin’s knowledge of the Land Rovers was second to none, and he had the perfect balance of being both patient and encouraging. He explained everything so clearly, making us feel confident behind the wheel while tackling terrain we never imagined we could conquer. His passion for what he does really shone through — he didn’t just give us a lesson, he gave us an adventure. Initially, I was only planning on being a passenger in the vehicle. I’ll admit I was nervous — I’m usually a very uneasy passenger and wasn’t sure how I’d cope. But after a gentle nudge from a lovely member of the reception team (who suggested I leave my licence details, just in case), and with Colin’s reassuring support, I decided to give driving a go myself. I can honestly say it was one of the proudest moments I’ve had — I conquered my nerves and achieved something I never thought I’d do. That was entirely thanks to Colin’s calm, encouraging nature. Thanks to him, what started as a birthday surprise for my partner turned into an unforgettable shared adventure for both of us. Been to Land Rover Experience at Cheshire today. OMG, OMG, OMG. An out of world experience. I always knew what my RR Sport but can but to experience all that first hand and moreover perform full functionality all by yourself is just amazing. My best was 45 degree drop and drive through in 3ft of water. The facility is situated in lovely part of world known as Wales in general and Cheshire in particular and inside Peckforton castle. Everyone was so welcoming from the start. A huge shout-out to our instructor and guide CHRIS. He was lovely. Very composed, very knowledgeable and very patient. Never pushy and works with you. I expressed my desire to go on the difficult part of route and CHRIS never showed any disagreement rather made sure that we did all difficult terrain and car manouvers to make the experience worthwhile and yes it was by all means. He showed us kids of other features of RR Sport which were not aware of and made sure that the route did justice to show all features. Thank you Chris and Thank you Land Rover. A day well spent. We booked as the final part of a Company Meeting, we had 12 in the group so they laid on 5 vehicles for us, all immaculate and wonderful, knowledgeable drivers.

We all had a fabulous time and were amazed at the capability when even a £130,000 Range Rover could have a front wheel 2 ft off the ground and control its decent with carefully guided brake-work. We all loved the hill descent in the quarry, so counter intuitive not to mash the brake pedal into the floor and just let the vehicle take over!

I have to reluctantly admit that some of the terrain would have been too technical for my 1980s Land Rover 90, although I would have loved to give it a go.
