We went when it wasn't open but had a lovely time. We walked around 5k in total viewing the mines, old buildings and exploring the area. We took a pack lunch so also got to stop and admire the lovely view. Some of the signs are a bit damaged so if you'd like to find out more about the mine, you might want to take your phone and Google (yes we did get a signal ). Dogs are also allowed in the area on leads and there is a well kept public loo just before the entrance . There isn't a cafe near the site so a pack-up would be ideal though there is a shop for snacks close by. We didn't go all the way so you could certainly keep walking/exploring...

It was the end of my day after a long walk and I spent about an hour walking round and could have spent a lot longer
Plenty of good paths and directions and it is clear as to where you can and can not go

A month ago I got to go up top, this time it was amazing exploring the mine and finding out how they got lead and zinc out hundreds of years ago. For a volunteer-led activity it was very professional and to top it all off, there was cake at the end! It just so happened I had my geiger counter in my pocket.
