Amazingly peaceful part of Walney yet just across the channel from the bustle of Barrow. Bird life brilliant. I'd recommend parking in North Scale and walking north along the High Water line to the reserve and dunes and returning past flooded quarries onto perimeter path north east of airfield and along Lenny Hill lonning back to the Crown for an excellent pub meal or pint.

Nice walk although depending on the route you take some parts have become over grown which is awkward when passing, but it's a nice place, has plenty wild flowers and Shrubs and old bunkers, there are plenty to see in the ponds but I didn't see toad's (but there are a few ponds). But still, lovely fresh air, lovely walk, lovely place.

I'm lucky enough to live overlooking this and it's beautiful, it's a great walk through the reserve and along the beach.

A mixture of all sorts! It has become somewhat tamed over the past ten+ years - by nature fostered by 'mankind' for accessibility. Choose your walk. A great mix of mature dunes, rewilding, and established woodland on the beach amongst the man made relics of previous generations of users. Lots of...
