I recently spent the day at the predator experience with my partner and his 18 yr old son. The Walking with Wolves experience is one I can’t recommend highly enough and one which we’ll be talking about for a long time to come.

This is a very hands on affair, and you will be up close and personal with these iconic and beautiful animals. There were only the three of us in the group so we were all able to take one of the wolves on a lead (actually I think it took me for the walk!) whilst watching the antics of the other roaming free, doing what it does naturally, foraging and hunting in a beautiful old woodland. If they are both off the lead together they get into mischief but Dee will explain!

Make no mistake these are powerful animals and you have to respect them in order to become honorary pack members, but follow a couple of simple rules and there won’t be any problems. They don’t like hats or sunglasses so be prepared to relinquish these, but cameras are welcome.

Dee is an expert in wolf behaviour and an absolute mine of information which she’s happy to share. She really is passionate about all her animals and it’s clear that she wants them to enjoy the experience too. She has the different howls off to a tee and the wolves are more than happy to join in so be prepared to be deafened!

We also had a Hawk Walk in a different wood, with Dee’s Harris Hawk. Again, there’s no such thing as standing watching; you’ll have the gauntlet, the meat, and a very fast and accurate hawk will land on your hand before taking off to display its amazing flying skills. Dee’s rapport comes through years of working with her birds and the trust between the two of them is clearly mutual.

Not everybody is a creepy crawly fan but tarantulas are actually really lovely and having one walking over your hand isn’t a bit scary so give it ago. We thoroughly enjoyed it as we did the snakes who were quite inquisitive and will happily disappear up your sleeve if you’re not quick enough. Dee is very good at gauging how well (or not) you’re doing, so will intervene if she senses you’re not comfortable. If you just want to watch and not touch, no problem.

Thanks Dee and Daniel for a great day. Mark, Fraser and I will definitely be back, and are looking forward to the 3 new arrivals which I won’t name as I want to be first...

Earlier this year I booked an experience, however there was a terminal health issue in my immediate family, which meant I had to fly to another country to be with my family before their passing. I emailed them explaining the situation, about 3 weeks before my booking, and simply asked to rearrange due to the exceptional circumstances, not even asking for a refund. I was ignored. No response. I emailed again, to check if they've gotten my email. Ignored again. No calls, no emails, no texts. No response to this day. Not even an email to say they apologise but it's not possible. Nothing at all. Abysmal, disgustingly unprofessional behaviour from a small company, I've never seen the like of it before nor since.

It cannot even be said that I would have caused them a loss, their slots get filled up so quickly. They probably opened up my booked slot and filled it with another booking within days, without a single word to me, since they already had my money so who cares about my experience, right?

I looked forward to this experience so much, it was on my bucket list, I got it as a birthday gift from my whole family who saved up their hard earned money for this, we're unfortunately not rich at all. And this place doesn't even deign to respond to an email, not to mention the circumstances of the email. There are no words for this, honestly. Not only unprofessional, but inhumane. If they ignore this review too, well, you know what kind of people you'll be giving your hard earned money to, and if they do respond; no explanation or excuse makes this behaviour from a business okay. If they try to say they have contacted me; lying is a bad look.

Either way, I'd go elsewhere to get this kind of experience if I were you. In fact, I'd rather fly to Canada to get a better experience than deal with these inhumane people again or give them another penny, due to the lack of basic human decency, respect and customer service that's very evident, towards their own customers no less. They forget that customers can talk about their experiences, in multiple ways, this is only...

I can’t rate this highly enough, I had an amazing experience and no doubt I’ll be visiting again. Access is up a narrow track but very clear route details are provided after booking so found it easily enough. You are greeted at the gate by the owners, Dee and Dan, and advised where to park. I went on my own but there are a small group of people sharing the experience with you. You’re then given a briefing on some very important do’s and don’ts. The wolves arrive on leashes and they are encouraged by Dan and Dee to howl, a sound which always gives me goosebumps. They are then passed over to you. They are on split leads which 2 people handle per wolf. It’s a very sedate walk around a field and up a small hill but you are reminded of how powerful they are when you try to encourage one to keep up with the rest of the pack, they will not be moved!!! After the walk you are invited into their enclosure and they are allowed to roam free with you. There, you’re given the opportunity to be photographed with them and to give them treats and as much fuss as they can take. Watching a wolf roll over for a belly rub makes you almost forget the animal you’re dealing with but they are so friendly and at no point did I feel intimidated or fearful. You can see how happy and well cared for they are and it’s very clear to see how much the owners care about not just the wolves they have but about educating and changing peoples misconceptions about these amazing animals, they pretty much dedicate their lives to their work. Dan and Dee are very knowledgeable and you will learn a lot from your visit, I have to say my concentration on the education side was distracted slightly when I was holding the leash as I couldn’t take my eyes off them. Our visit ran over the hour so you didn’t feel like the owners were clock watching and rushing you, they finished when they finished. I encourage everyone to visit, it’s a special experience that I will...

My goodness is this experience my cup of tea! I am a HUGE animal lover, it's just a fact. If there's animals involved, I'm there. I'm the guy at the party who hangs out with the dog, that's just who I am. So when my wife surprised me with this experience for my birthday this October, I couldn't wait. The couple who run the place are very nice and personable and clearly know what they're talking about, they have many years of collective experience. They have wolves and there is also a small paddock with a pair of foxes which are also worth a visit. The experience is just amazing. It only involves small groups, so crowds aren't overwhelming. It's also easy enough to find with Google Maps. You get face to face (literally) with the wolves. You get to walk them, you get to watch them all howl as a pack, you get to feed them, and you come away with many many photos. Cameras are allowed, but the weather was so miserable when we were there that I decided to just use my phone. I still came away with some lovely photos amd the weather didn't stop us having an amazing time. They're just the most beautiful creatures. Make sure you follow the instructions beforehand, don't come wearing any fur-lined clothing or leather or bits of food on you and you'll get on just fine. These are young wolves so they're very friendly, not much different from your dog at home. I absolutely loved it ❀

This was the highlight of my holiday to the north of England, and that says a lot because the holiday was amazing all round. I did the Walking With Wolves experience and there is nothing quite like it. They're such beautiful and incredible animals that you can't help but fall on love with them. The staff, Dee and Daniel, are friendly and knowledgeable, very warm and approachable unlike some other handlers of wild or dangerous animals who can be standoffish. Maska and Kajika, the two wolves we got to walk with, are such beautiful animals, and the bad press wolves get in popular media is almost instantly dispelled upon meeting then. They have obviously got immense power and can definitely be dangerous, but they are obviously so comfortable around people that it seems at once all vastly disproportionate. The one issue with Predator Experience, and I hesitate to call it an issue owing to it being beyond Dee and Daniels control, is a lack of signage indicating where they can be found, so I cannot state strongly enough to USE THE POST CODE IN THE SATNAV. Overall I cannot speak highly enough of Predator Experience, and I will definitely be returning in future.
