I did this walk from the car park at Crummock water two days ago and loved it. There is a moderate longish plod up hill through Rannerdale to the col opposite Robinson - and then the lovely undulating ridge walk with spectacular views of the fells and lakes below. Sadly I was just too early to capture the fields of bluebells near Squat beck. I agree with other reviews that the very steep stone steps down from the summit of Rannerdale Knott need a lot of care - they can be slippery or uneven. But this is a walk I'd certainly do again, maybe in May when the bluebells are more spectacular. You can see them in my second photo if you look hard! They are there. The last photo showing the steep path descending from Rannerdale Knott summit needs to be rotated 90 degrees I think.

Excellent medium fell walk that starts gently up the hidden valley, then breathtaking views of Fleetwirth Pike, Hay stacks, Scarth Gap, Red Pike, Grasmoor, & Whiteless Pike, as well as three lakes. Final decent is short and tricky down steps but we managed it with a nutty dog & an 82 year old. Arrive early as parking is limited.

For a small one this sure packs a punch!!! Straightforward paths to get you to the summit but one way meanders across the summit plateau, the other is literally a steep flight of steps up the side of the hill. The views are great and there is a sense of achievement once you reach the summit. And it's a Wainwright!!!

Lovely secluded valley, alongside Crummock Water, blanketed in bluebells late April to early May, leads up alongside Squat Beck on a gentle climb to the top of the valley, before you turn 180 degrees right to head to the top of Rannerdale Knotts on the wide undulating grassy expanse of Low Bank.

Alternatively, at the top of the valley, you can head down into Buttermere or take the track left along Whiteless Edge (boggy in places) to Cragg Hill, around to Grasmoor and back down to Crummock Water.

A lovely quiet secluded part of the Western Lakes.

If driving to Crummock Water, be aware that the roads are narrow in places and you will have to give way at passing places to on coming traffic as the roads are too narrow for cars to pass in some places.

At the time of writing the 77 bus will take you from Keswick to Crummock Water and Buttermere, where you can...
