We parked as near as you can to the bridge, but had to take an 8,000 step detour through brambles, stinging nettles, and unsigned grass to try to find access to it. It turns out (after trying about seven different dead ends) that you have to find an entrance to a bridge that allows you to walk over a railway after getting through a gap in a huge security gate, DESIGNED TO KEEP PEOPLE OUT!. If that wasn't a total waste of life, when we finally got to the bridge, we found it blocked off at the other end and were refused entrance to a building plot...from which we could see our car! and forced to walk all around the unmarked track that we'd just walked, which took about another 35 minutes! As for the bridge itself...it's a rotted old steel bridge, with huge holes rusted through the floor, which are big enough to fall through if they weren't very badly covered over with galvanised sheet attached by pop rivets!! Honest to God, how this place passes for a place of interest worth going through hoops to get to, escapes me. England! for God's sake start understanding what an attraction means! this ain't one, and even when the builders have made it accessible, it will still be a boring rusty old bridge! in a...

Read moreAs a disabled person I wasn’t made aware of how much walking would be involved in our trip to see the viaduct. As we has arranged to meet a guide in the main car park we had no idea that there was accessible n parking much closer to the viaduct, only one or two spaces but we would have got in. I was asked if I wanted to return to the car but that meant the walk leader coming with me and missing out so I carried on knowing that I would soon regret my decision, the viaduct itself is at the top of around 5 sets of steps which again if you have mobility issues or vertigo you would struggle with. It is one of only 3 viaducts left in the country and that is what made the journey worthwhile, but it is inaccessible to anyone in a wheelchair almost crippled me and put me in bed for a few days. Is much more...
