This looked to be a place where we could avoid weekend crowds along the coast. However, we were unfortunate that the Sunday morning in October that we had earmarked for our visit proved to be very misty - visibility was very poor. We enjoyed the walk but saw very little! We actually struggled to find the walking route around the site and the signposting really wasn’t adequate. We were there for about 90 minutes during which time we saw only a handful of other people and they were arriving as we left. We were encouraged enough to think that we will try again next time we are in the area.

A lovely, albeit soggy, walk. The signage for the circular path, perimeter path and bridle path could be clearer - we walked a lot further than intended, still really enjoyed it. Parts of the paths and gates were very boggy so good footwear is useful.

Beautiful lowland peat bog, ideal for walks. With a bit of luck, you will see wildfowl up clse. We saw some young pheasants that were as curious about us as we were about them.

Fascinating and very peaceful location. Nature reserve and site of special scientific interest with remains of an old colliery. A footpath follows the perimeter of the central raised peat bog. The views of the Cheviot hills and across the Milfield plain from Brrom Ridge are...
