Chanced upon it while taking a walk along the river. There seems no way to access it (as mentioned by some, the entrance from the top is fenced up) except by climbing the steep slope from the river which can be quite challenging (gloves highly recommended). Spectacular bridge over the river Wear. The railway line is long disused and it’s difficult to access from above. It’s best viewed from the river but the path is a little difficult in places and often muddy. But it’s worth the effort and the fact that this feat of engineering is so well hidden makes the effort to find it all the...

Absolutely gorgeous view. Lovely colours of autumn to be seen everywhere. Very good to be outdoors but wouldn't recommend it for anyone who has bad knees or anything similar as the walks are...
