The monument itself is not open yo the public, but the platform on which it stands is. There is a small parking area. The monument is a piece of Victorian Gothic fantasy in memory of Sir Tatton Sykes. It is not particularly fine when seen close up, but has two sculpted panels and an inscription. A notice giving details of its history is currently attached to the railings. The main reason to visit is the view to the south, taking in Beverley, Hull and on a clear day the south Bank of the Humber. You would be advised to bring binoculars or a telescope if you want to pick out individual buildings.

The grade ll listed Sir Tatton Sykes Monument was built 1865 and paid for by his friends. There is a relief on the front of sir tatton on a horse. There are other images on the other sides. There is a spiral staircase leading to a viewing platform. The monument is surrounded by railings and a dry moat. It is impressive and well worth seeing.

Fantastic Monument, we where shocked at how big it was, from the photos I have seen it looked half as tall as it actually was, we had a good look round and photos where taken, this is a must visit place if you are in the area, the detail in the stone carving work is superb, we where really glad we found this on our trip to Bridlington .

A tall beautiful monument, built 150 years ago. How they did it? Who knows. The structure is surrounded by a small fence that just prevents people from touching it. Aside from the monument itself, there's not much to see, but it is the Yorkshire countryside, and there is a public footpath nearby, allowing the monument to be a suitable start/end location that's visible from miles around.

I wouldn't recommend coming especially, but if you're passing anyway, definitely consider giving it 5-10 minutes. It's incredibly detailed and has windows and...
