Gigha is my favourite place in the western isles and the northern tip is simply stunning. I sailed here in heavy weather and the coves in the north provided excellent shelter in all wind directions. You can anchor fairly close to shore and it's a short swim, or for the less brave an easy dingy ride not needing much more than a push off to get to dry land. On the beach(s) you'll find a beautifully tranquil bar of golden sand with sea on both sides and plenty of rock pools at the shore of the rocky headland which also offers great opportunities for photography. If you arrive by ferry from Tayinloan you can hire bikes from the shop in Ardminish to get to the north beach, and I highly recommend the local cheese.
