Gigha is my favourite place in the western isles and the northern tip is simply stunning. I sailed here in heavy weather and the coves in the north provided excellent shelter in all wind directions. You can anchor fairly close to shore and it's a short swim, or for the less brave an easy dingy ride not needing much more than a push off to get to dry land. On the beach(s) you'll find a beautifully tranquil bar of golden sand with sea on both sides and plenty of rock pools at the shore of the rocky headland which also offers great opportunities for photography. If you arrive by ferry from Tayinloan you can hire bikes from the shop in Ardminish to get to the north beach, and I highly recommend the local cheese. If you go here please look after the beach, take your rubbish home and support the local businesses that are run by very friendly,...

Fantastic set of two beaches, the northern one is the cleaner and better one with great views, but the southern one is also worth exploring. Fairly easy to reach by a short walk over a good path. Bring some long clothes if you want to explore the island on the other side of the tombolo, the bracken and other vegetation gets quite high and dense...

Lucky to visit on a stunning day. Cycled here from Ardminish with the family. The North beach is stunning, just perfect. Some pretty big jellies washed up and sadly a dead gannet (probably bird flu) on the south beach. Water obviously freezing but a few brave souls having a swim.
