We went to the Viking Battle Weekend on Friday. There was a variety of artisans there. The archery experience was great. They were knowledgeable and enthusiastic, as well as patient with the kids. Terry (Science Viking and Cabbage Slayer) was also extremely interesting and willing to give detailed explanations relating the sciences and the history of Vikings. The food looked good (Bao Buns), but we packed a picnic. Parking across the street was fine, but maybe would've been better to have some signage for cars to slow, or barriers for extra pedestrian safety, or possibly a person to help with crossing. We look forward to coming back!

Moorforge Viking Settlement is a rare place where you can experience the Viking way of living through events, like minded people and through visiting the traditionally built longhouse and blacksmiths forge. The owner is a very friendly and knowledgeable guy who is more than happy to help with any questions you may have regarding his Settlement and his grand future plans for the place. I'm personally going to become quite a regular at Moorforge and looking forwards to what the future holds for this place.

Great night, would definitely go again! We just went for the folk music / jam session but, I'm very interested in attending some of the other events. The people there were all very friendly, food & drink was bring your own with a view to sharing with and partaking of the food the other guests/community provided. Very chilled & good vibes all round.

Mooreforge Viking Settlement is well worth checking out for reenactment, crafts, live music and storytelling events or blacksmithing. Last night we enjoyed a saga in the longhouse, on other visits we have learned to forge our own knives and have had the opportunity to stay in the long house a couple of times. Moorforge is not generally open to the public other than for events, it is the beginning of an exciting project to bring Cumbria's viking heritage...
