Had a visit to the gardens today Saturday 26/4/25 took my 93 years old mum in cafe along with my wife. I ordered three drinks , two coffees and a pot of tea, also added two tea cakes and one scone with just butter , the tea cakes arrived on the table , one for mum the other for my wife , then waited for my scone , and waited and waited , till my wife and mum had almost finished there tea cakes, it was then I asked the man if they had forgotten something, he looked at a bit of paper and said its coming, a few minutes later a grumpy girl just come and almost just dropped it on the table right in front of me then turned away without saying a single word. Very unprofessional and very unfriendly, she had bad attitude just because I pointed out I was waiting. And when the scone arrived it was nothing to write home about , under cooked sticky and very bland no wonder the scone box was still full at 2:30pm others must know the scones are not the cafes strong point so they don't buy them !! We won't be returning to the cafe there are much better in the local village. Sorry guys you need to keep your eye on one or two of your staff. Gardens excellent and drinks excellent, food poor and bland not the best...

Won't be returning My daughter, husband and I were looking forward to tea and cakes at Grappenhall Heys walled garden. Due to the lack of signage my daughter, wearing a face mask, went to the counter to enquire if we could order tea and cakes for outside. She was aggressively ordered to leave the café, by the owner, for failing to queue and use the booking system. The owner then proceeded to reprimand her in front of clusters of people waiting around the entrance, where there was no clear Covid compliant signage, nor social distancing measures.

I went to speak to the owner, to ask what the problem was and she was equally rude to me, escorting us both out of the café, berating us in front of customers. We fail to understand why we were treated in this manner. For many years we have supported the garden and were very disappointed at the attitude of the proprietor. We understand the need for vigilance but is this aggression...

Absolutely dreadful experience. Dropped by the beautiful gardens on my lunch break. Cafe is usaully very busy and so it was today. Arrived at 12:10 and waited at the entrance to the outside seating area as per the instructions. I waited over 5 minutes before anybody even acknowledged me despite looking over. I was then told that they where fully booked for lunch (which was not a problem may I add) and so I asked for a take away alternative, to which I as told they only accommodate for coffee and cake take away. I placed an order at 12:17 for a coffee and a cake and was still waiting at 12:25. At this point, another customer approached with a child and was seen to almost immediately. They too hadn't booked a table, however, they where we offered a table for coffee and cake. Even still I did not complain but by 12:35 there was still no sign of the coffee and cake I had ordered and so I left.

Unbelievably poor...

Compact area within a solid wall with a couple of ponds and benches scattered around. There's a separate kitchen type garden that includes a cafe still within the walls. Separates from the walled garden is a wooded area again fairly small in size. The whole area has a series of paths some of which lead to the modern housing estate most similar in form but of generous proportions. The whole area is pleasant to stroll round especially on a sunny day. There's a small play area opposite gate one but you have to cross the road, which is relatively quiet but seemingly the only place for many vehicles to park. Maybe spend between one to three hours there.

Lovely restored walled kitchen and pleasure garden with ponds. Free entry, parking limited on the roadside but we found a space easily enough even though it was relatively busy. Lovely cafe in the greenhouse, indoor/outside seating. Toilets only when the cafe is open so check times. Dogs allowed in the garden on a lead but not in the cafe. Cafe is lovely , moderately priced e.g. £2 for a mug of tea. You can really see the hard work that has gone into the testoration. Well worth a visit to this pretty garden.

Nice little place, two ponds with carp and ducks to feed, and some lovely grounds to walk around. When your finished walking around there is a small woodland and nice field round the back to walk around. Only downside was the amount of duck poo around the ponds, make sure to take spare footwear to change into when getting back into your car.
