42 acres has all the right ingredients for a nourishing, relaxing and comfortable retreat space amongst lush Somerset fields and vibrant woodlands, but more than ticking all the boxes it has the sense of being a really special place, and of holding a lot of positive experiences for people there.
There is great attention paid to detail - in the aesthetics of the interior, beautiful unique pieces of art, sculpture and design, locally made eco soap, soft bed linen and also practically in terms of having thought about everything you might need to run a successful retreat.
Whilst the main building feels safe and secluded, there is a feeling of expansiveness from having so much space to explore outside with woodlands that feel like they go on forever. The children were living their best lives, playing in the tree house, exploring the woods and swimming and paddle boarding on the lake. The walled garden provided inspiration and wonder for children and grown ups alike. We enjoyed cooking outside and sharing family mealtimes in the sunshine (and in the tent when it rained!). Sitting around the campfire toasting marshmallows and chatting was the perfect end to the day's activities. While we didn't see beavers we did see hares, deer, frogs, barn owls and bats. Thank you 42 acres for another truly magnificent weekend. We...
