We had the worst experience of visiting this place. Our initial aim was to have a nice walk in the garden with the dog and child and having a lunch in the Tea Room on Saturday. We called at the tearoom and mentioned that we are the National Trust members and we drove all the way to visit them. First girl said that "it is absolutely fine" and we can go but then she shouted out for her colleague to double check, her colleague - second girl said that they are "not a part of the National trust anymore" but the "warden is not in today so you could come in". We come in to the park and walked 30 metres when we were summoned back by a man who is apparently head gardener. He was very rude and questioned us how we got in, did we pay and basically told us off for having a dog with us "as dogs are not allowed here". We were made to feel like we were trespassing while we were allowed in by the staff in the tea room.
The man mentioned that they have never been a part of the National trust (this was the third version about the place connection to the Trust) and we were escorted out if the gardens with dog and 4 year old.
It is extremely confusing to understand what is a part of National Trust and what is not and instead of being politely explained we were treated poorly. The customer service of this place is extremely low with absolutely unprofessional staff of the tea rooms. Please be aware that they only want payments by cash which is also inconvenient and weird, also not mentioned anywhere. The sign at the tea rooms said that they are dog friendly so it is confusing that the gardens are not dog friendly.
Turns out Antony House itself is a part of the National trust, however the Antony Woodland Garden and the Woodland Walks which are part of ANTONY estate are not included. No information is available to make this information clear to...
Read moreWhat a hidden gem this wonderful garden is....and I found it purely by chance!! With Antony House not serving drinks due to covid I left and went 400 metres down the road as directed by the NT staff. The Broomhill Cottage cafe has a super garden and serve various lunches, homemade cakes and drinks. And...lo and behold behind this cottage is the most fantastic garden with glorious paths, beautiful flowers and fauna and super views of the river Lynher and river Tamar. The combination of bluebells and garlic is a feature and everywhere there are vast carpets of blue and white colour swaying in the breeze. For the price of £30 per year you and another adult ( not named )plus 3 children can visit and enjoy this special place. Thanks Antony House for not opening your cafe.....huge mistake. This place is...
Read moreAntony Woodland Garden is my most favourite of green spaces in the SW. I’ve been going for years, alone, with kids, with friends, during covid and whatever the reason it’s always been a special time. Even with what appears to be lots of visitors you still find yourselves alone and uninterrupted. Space enough for everyone to feel like it’s all yours. The lay out, the trees, the art works, the river side all mash together for somewhere really quite special. It’s a magical place that is reminiscent of a bygone era out of a story book. No surprises Alice in Wonderland was filmed there. We love you Antony...
